Education at Work (E@W) Transition FAQs
What is happening?
Education at Work (E@W) has officially joined American Student Assistance (ASA) as of August 31. E@W will continue to operate under its own name and mission, led by Chief Executive Officer Jane Swift and the current leadership team. With ASA’s partnership, E@W gains additional resources and investment to expand programs, strengthen partnerships, and increase its impact on students and communities nationwide.
Why is this an exciting move?
E@W and ASA share a mission: helping young people connect education and work in ways that set them up for long-term success. ASA has long been a leader in supporting career exploration and work-based learning through its strategic investments, grants and advocacy, and E@W provides students with meaningful, paid opportunities that combine job experience with tuition assistance. Together, these two organizations will be able to expand their reach, using a proven model to create pathways to career and economic mobility for more young people.
Will E@W remain a nonprofit?
Yes. E@W will remain a nonprofit initiative with its own leadership and structure. ASA’s investment will provide the stability, strategic support, and resources needed to accelerate growth while E@W continues to expand its proven model and stays true to its mission-driven approach.
What does this mean for students?
Students will continue to benefit from good wages, tuition support, and meaningful job opportunities. Those benefits will not change. What will change is the scale of opportunity: ASA’s support will enable E@W to grow its Talent Hubs, expand into new regions and build new partnerships with major employers.
What does this mean for partners?
Colleges and employers will continue working with the same E@W team, under the same agreements already in place. Partners can expect the same high level of collaboration and service—now strengthened by ASA’s resources and commitment to long-term growth.
What does the future look like?
The future for E@W is one of growth, stability, and expanded impact. Backed by ASA, E@W is poised to bring its unique model to more students and institutions across the country—creating a broader, stronger network of opportunities that help young people succeed in school, at work, and in life.
